What's his forward pressure like? Most of those highlights were leading mark and kick, not that dissimilar to Cody if a little bit quicker and less 'high-flying'.
He's clearly talented and kicked some nice goals...but...is he worth it?
If the trade was just 10 and 17 for 4 and late picks, I'm in - but including the future first means he really needs to be worth it.

He 100% is not worth it. I'm not saying he's no good either. Reid isn't even worth 3 firsts. It's a stupid trade. Stupid.
Certainly doesn't feel like we're "winning" but I guess it means:
1. We more or less pay a F1 for Croft - which maybe is about his value?
2. We move up the draft to get the player we want. I don't hate this. I've always thought 1 excellent player is worth more than 2 average players, and a crumbing forward is a need.
It's still a gamble and it leaves us thin next year. Maybe we think we're going to get some firsts next year if we lose Smith or English?
Given the time it takes KPPs to develop, I don't mind the approach of locking them away and using our picks on them for a few years (which we've done) and then spending a few years rebuilding the midfield. It sorta works in theory, but the problem is we lose a few years of Bont in the meantime.
But if Ads (who was injured all year) and Bont can be at their best, and Smith can rotate through, I think we have the midfield sorted for TODAY - it's 2-3 years from now that the questions come. So... let's just win the 2024 flag.

A F1 for Croft is terrible if we don't make top 4. He's worth around Pick 15-20.
What does it mean for Clarke though? Does it say we are concerned?
I don't see Weightman moving up the ground. He's a 30-40 goal forward.
I was thinking the same thing about Clarke, but to be honest if he is good enough, there'll be a spot. If we had three elite small forwards playing well, we'll find a way to make that work.
It couldn't create a bigger challenge/opportunity for Clarke. Hope he realises that and has a big pre-season.
"I'll give him a hug before the first bounce and then I'll run into my pack and give them orders to rip him apart."

No, I think we are finally going to play all forwards in the forward line.
Watson Marra Weightman
Clarke Naughton Lobb
Adz & Bont rest forward.
No more West, McNeil, Garcia, Scott, VDM etc. - three talls, two hybrid smalls and Clarke as a small.
We just have to finally kick it I50 to advantage. It’s a multi dimensional forward line.

If you combined that forward line with Melbourne's backs and mids you'd have a premiership team.
Nah, just need Coffield & Harmes!

Watson won’t get the same delivery with us as he has in underage.
Sadly we are terrible in that department.
and thats exactly why we need him. He won't rely on precise delivery. He is brilliant at ground level. A real predator and hungry for a goal. He will pluck goals out of his arsenal.

No I wouldn't be concerned about clark at this stage. We actually need more small forward scoring power so we don't have to rely on McNeil, VDM, and whoever else is a not a forward being forced into being one and not scoring. Would love to also get Collard. Watching games would be fun again!
