Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
I went and saw Descendents the other night. They were great and Milo may have set a new trend by wearing a Camelbak through the whole gig....
Support was Nursery Crimes who I'm pretty sure I last saw at EV's supporting ALL in 1993 or 4. Also playing at that gig were Fireballs and Helium (pre-Bodyjar). I'm old now.
I'm going to see Spoon at the Croxton in March.
Nursery Crimes were a great band. Did they start out as Slush Puppies? Because they were even better. Actually I think they added the drummer from vicious circle
One of you guys should carry a paper under your arm or wear a carnation in your lapel so you can recognise each other. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
I saw them at the Palace back in 198something. They held a room better than any band I've seen. They had the crowd in the palm of their hands from the moment they walked on stage.
IIRC instead of rehearsing they busked in the city square that afternoon. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
They didn't seem to be enjoying themselves greatly. They opened with Blister, which could have worked but instead meant most of the crowd lost attention somewhat straight away. They also played a new song which was unbelievably terrible. I was a big fan at one point and was looking forward to them but it wasn't a memorable show in any positive way. Saying that it may not have been indicative of their headlining shows.
They also played between absolutely cracking sets by Sleater-Kinney and Eddy Current which didn't help.Park that car

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones
Spoon were sensational last night - the new tracks were fantastic and they also delved deep into their archives from the last 20 years to play some obscure and much loved album tracks. They are consummate pros who simply deliver brilliant albums and put on live performances of understated excellence."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Looking forward to Tim Rogers tonight at The Yarraville Club. I'm sure he'll throw in some footy references. He even has a new song called 'the umpire's son' which may be biographical.Comment
