He has wheels, can tackle & has some strength as well. Not a fan of his finishing skills but theres something there.

I don't really see it. He is 182cm but I would've guessed in the 170s, he is tiny and not big bodied, not strong one on one and no good in the air. I think he'd be very limited on who he could play on, and don't think he has shown he has hurt factor with his disposals or an ability to break the lines to compensate.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

What trait does Garcia have that will transition into regular senior football?
I get the attraction for the club with VDM and McNeil because they have pace but I share your concerns on their ability to make it.

2024 is a huge season for him and he's being groomed as the Liberatore replacement so lets hope he has some of those Libba qualities.

Would we have any interest in Xavier Duursma?

I think you're right but the DFA days are long gone you simply need more than a competitive mindset and good hands. Libba is the template for Garcia.
I'm not convinced Garcia has the smarts or goal kicking power of Libba so he's going to need to do something else really well. I can't see what that is yet but he's young.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

It's being speculated on SEN that Port comment on Duursma’s future as trade potentially “in play” for Victorian clubs

Better get him over to Vietnam to start his pre-season ASAP!

Depends on the cost. He hasn’t really kicked on just yet. Hard to tell from my limited watching if that’s just him, or the competition for games and mid minutes are holding him back a little.

If Smith leaves, a part from using the high pick on a mid, it might be nice to bring in a younger mid too. Hollands seems heavily linked to Carlton. If Hawthorn got Smith and they expect Duursma’s younger brother (McKercher above him?) then a couple of brothers might be more likely to stay at the club?

They are trying to bring in Ratugolea, Zerk-Thatcher, Sweet and maybe Soldo as well with very little draft capital. They are going to have to let someone of value go and Duursma seems the most likely unless the Wines rumours are true.

He would be a tempting decision for me. He's had a few players go past him at Port but he has 70 senior games of experience and he could be a solid addition if, as you say, he could be added at a reasonable price.
