I’ll say it again, a local coach who’s seen all the West kids play from auskick onward - loved Rhylee - but reckons Levi is next level good. His view is backed up by that accomplishment. You literally can’t do much better than be in the best 23 players in Australia at your age level.

Not sure is the short answer. From memory the descriptions used were along the lines of being a dead set gun, best of all the boys, moves well (not sure that necessarily means speed, the Scott was quick by mind), uses it really well, great decision maker, good size, a stand out player whose really serious about his footy (more so the twins not really fanatical about it). He was talking up Rhylee when no one really had him on the radar (ended up mid second rounder) and thinks it will cost a fair bit more and expects some hype if his development continues on. I’ve been hearing about him for about 4 years with the same level of excitement by my guy. Being so young I’ve been waiting for the drop off (ie Kellett was a dead set gun in his first few seasons with league B&Fs etc at under 12’s etc), but every time I hear the update on Levi he just keeps impressing. Clearly with Doc pointing out him going AA, he’s obviously growing his fan base. He has got an important three years ahead presumably playing for Calder, but everything I’ve heard indicates he’s a very promising kid. I’m certain the club will be pumping time and effort into him training with us where we can to develop him as he moves into the (presumably) Calder 16’s & 18’s. Let’s hope he kicks on and Rhylee is still there in 4 years as a consistent performer too. Would be nice to have some brothers again.

Rookie Me power rankings just dropped again. Croft at Pick 14. Twomey said Pick 13 last week.

                      Re: Father/Son Watch

ESPN updated power rankings. Like rookie me and Twomey, he’s still inching higher:

                      17. Jordan Croft (was 19)
                      Calder Cannons/Vic Metro
                      FWD, 200cm, 80kg
National Champs: 4 games, 9.3 disposals, 1.3 goals, 68 ranking points

Croft has real athletic tools at a key position height - he can jump over packs and possesses speed at ground level to burn his defender. Vic Metro struggled to move the ball quickly and Croft suffered as a result, but he still had patches of dominance including three goals against SA.

                      Plays like: Joe Daniher

Consensus Range across 5 power rankings: Croft = Pick 13-17.

Also has 5 matched bids before the Brisbane First. So that’s looking like pick 20+ plus factoring in FA compo pushing it out too.

Walter, Reid, Rogers, Croft, McCabe & Cleary. So 6 bids before the Bris 1st.

In Jasper Chellappah's August Power Rankings, it's clear the first round of the AFL Draft is starting to take shape -- especially at the top end -- but a few names appear for the first time as the draft draws nearer.
