Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Perhaps he gets discussed because we need to free up some spots but there would be quite a few ahead of him to be delisted.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
I don't see anything from Butler that looks like it'll translate to AFL.
He's being developed on the wing but doesn't have the natural aerobic capacity of Hunter, isn't quick and his kicking is very hit and miss. Every game I've seen him play this year he has absolutely butchered simple passes and his decision making can be questionable (for example when pushing for the win late on the weekend he twice kicked it to the absolute worst spot inside 50, one ended out on the full, the other was luckily touched off the boot or else it would have been too).
If he gets another deal, it's not the end of the world but I wouldn't be fighting to keep him. He's a long shot to make it, imo and chances are he'll just end up another player we keep on the list for too long. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Butler to the rookie list?
We're int he perfect storm right now of being near the pointy end of the ladder, getting the no 1 draft pick last year, having a top 3 pick fall into our lap this year and and the rule on 'list spots = picks' to match bids is relaxed for the second year in a row.
Delistings will include players who are traded which I suspect will include Lipinski. Stef Martin has a question mark over his body and I'm not sure Jong gets another year a he can't stay on the paddock.
Rhylee West I like (unlike some here) but I suspect he may explore his options too. We'll have a few rookie spots free (Hayes, and Weightman has probably killed Cavarra's career).
We'd let Schache go if he wants to but I think we'll hold on to McLean and RichardsWestern Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
He’s very much in the keep category for me… he’s being developed to play a role we have very few of and is consistently receiving positive reviews for his performances at the lower level.
Given the fact we are reluctant to turn the list over I can’t see how he gets the chop."I'll give him a hug before the first bounce and then I'll run into my pack and give them orders to rip him apart."Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
We have on the rookie list, Cavarra, Gardner (not 100% on this with new contract), Hayes, McNeil, Scott, Smith and Sweet, plus Buku (is he Cat B)
Which means we have only 35 on the main list?FFC: Established 1883

Is this confirmed, because the lists were changed for this year between main and rookie.

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Garcia clearly is rated highly by the club and I see it, he gets retained.
Lipinski should leave. I don't really see him asserting his place in our side and he will get a better contract and more gametime elsewhere, he should want to leave, but otherwise, retain as he is good depth.
Young should absolutely want out, unless we use him in a clearly defined role for the rest of the season. Even if he plays every game this year but continues to play 4 different positions a game that says to me that we don't really have a specific role for him and that makes him very easy to drop long term. I think he'll be a decent player, but probably not with us.
I was advocating for us letting Wallis go about 3 years ago, I've always been sceptical on the longevity of his role up forward, and do not rate him at all elsewhere. He is good enough to play elsewhere, and I really hope someone does offer him something because I'm not sure my heart could take delisting him.
Jong is lovely, but never available. For the good of his life, and for the good of not always having a dead spot on our list, surely he retires.
Butler i am meh on. Haven't seen enough to made an educated call but what I have heard from posters on here is not exactly glowing. Like always if we retin him it has to be for a reason though, we almost have a philosophy that we default to players deserving new deals even when they aren't good and we have no intention of playing them. If we realistically don't see him playing 5+ games next year then cut him. He is not a raw enough prospect that we have to invest 2+ years of nothing to turn him into something.
Martin can gracefully retire. Thanks for the proof of concept Stef, enjoy retirement. Should've come here 4 years ago when we first offered him a spot.
Khamis I am 5050 on. Apart from half a game against the woeful Kangaroos we have shown no intention to play him. If anybody is in a position 3 years into their career where they aren't even pushing for games then I am generally inclined to call it. Like Butler unless we legitimately see him playing multiple games next year and taking that big step forward then bad luck.
Cavarra and Hayes can be cut. No idea why we retained them, we clearly have zero interest in playing them. Absolute waste of time and list spots. I am genuinely pissed off that we relisted them when we did and nothing that has happened afterwards has vindicated that call.
Sweet is fine, and gets retained I guess. We should not be making any plans for him to be the number one ruck yet though, heis clearly on the list as a backup. Again though, if we aren't willing to play him when we need to use our backup ruckman (like most of last year) then don't sign him.
Roarke I like, and am happy to keep around for another rookie contract (he must be the poorest 8 year AFL player ever). At least we seem happy to play him when it's his turn (unlike all the other rookies). Also happy to cut.
Basically once players are hitting their 3rd season if they aren't even in the frame for selection then whats the point, list spots are gold and we do not turn them over enough. Cut half those guys, get a key defender or two and give them 2 years to develop into something worth using. If they aren't close then cut and restart.I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Maybe you should start something so we have a resource of accurate information. Give it some thought maybe. We will find out after the season if any of the rookies are elevated. Nobody knows yet.
Haven't heard anything about new rules regarding the usual requirement to make 3 primary list changes.Comment

Richards, Weightman, Scott, Duryea, Cordy have all played basically every game they are fit for and should/will be retained.
