Young isn’t 201cm. A few months ago Club had him at 197 which is still accurate IMO (still 197 on Footywire). He is nearly 23 y old and can’t have grown 4cm in a few months. If you have seen him on the field he’s similar height to Gardner (197cm), and noticeably shorter than Schache (201) and Sweet (205).

Did he have a quiff when measured at 201cm?

I tend to agree that he probably isn't 200cm but an athletic 197cm player should still be to find ways to run his opponent around a bit more and with his background as a defender be able to drop back and assist the defensive unit.

He is certainly a work in progress but I think he could be a competitive ruck man if we can training him to play that role.

Agree. He has most of the tools. While physicality isn’t his strength, he’s not afraid to jump into people and I think it actually plays to developing that area of his game and making him more combative.

Why would the club list him at 201cm? BTW, Footywire stats are not all up top date, especially player bio

Who knows? He didn't look substantially taller than Bont last week when I saw them in the centre square.

Ever since Liam Ryan I've liked to keep a watch on the state league stats to see if there's any super talented goal kickers running around.

One guy I'd be interested to get MJP's (or anyone else's) thoughts on is Tyler Keitel from West Perth. He's kicked like 65 goals from 15 games this year, looks good getting off the bus (196cm 91kgs) and is only 25.

How or why is he not in the AFL already? Should he be in the AFL next year? With us?

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion

Soooooo, the folks at Ch9 are getting more batshit by the minute. I honestly don't know how we could have shown more faith in English as a ruck over his career. We're also on record as wanting at least two if not three tall targets forward, whilst English played ruck minutes on Sunday.

OUT-OF-FAVOUR DOG A KEY TARGET FOR ‘FIXER’?

Footy Classified host Craig Hutchison has suggested rival AFL clubs should go after Western Bulldogs tall Tim English, with the 24-year-old’s role in his current side unclear.

Dogs coach Luke Beveridge has been open in his dissatisfaction with English’s performances in the ruck position in recent times, with Lachie Young now playing as a sudo-ruckman to cover.

Speaking on Channel Nine, Hutchison said another club could benefit from making a play for English, who is contracted until the end of 2022.

“This was a prodigy young ruckman who was going to be the next big thing at the Bulldogs - they just do not want to ruck him, even in a big final Lewis Young is preferred,” Hutchison said.

“He’s an opportunity for a ‘fixer’ - is it a West Coast with Nic Naitanui, is it another interstate club, is it a Melbourne club?

“Surely someone’s got to have more faith in him than the Bulldogs seem to have in him and his future.”

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes agreed, adding there was no clear spot for English as the side’s young talent continued to develop.

                    Ad
“They would hate to lose him, but when you’ve got Darcy coming in who’s another forward, you’ve got Ugle-Hagan and you’ve got Naughton, they’re your three key forwards for the future.

If English plays, he rucks. If they’re not comfortable rucking him, perhaps he does have to explore his opportunities and he wouldn’t be the first ruckman to do that.

How many rucks have we seen better at their second home? Nankervis, Hickey, Lycett ... it’s one that would be up to him because the Dogs wouldn’t want to lose him.

How much of a joke has sports media become. I mean this is just wrong on so many levels.. as you say.. we could not have shown any more faith in English than we have done!

Should have been drafted when he was 18. Simply a bloody good player.

                                DOGS CHASE TALL SIGNATURE

The Western Bulldogs are going all out to secure an established ruckman to help Tim English and are keen to sign the emerging ruck-forward as well.

English will hold off on talks until next year given his season hasn’t been anywhere near what it looked like when he and Stef Martin smacked up Brodie Grundy in Round 1.

But he loves Melbourne and is committed to staying at the Dogs long-term despite some speculation this week about whether rivals should make a play for him.

The Dogs contracted Stef Martin on a one-year deal and despite an excellent start to the year his groin issues have allowed him to play only seven games.

He played in a practice match on the weekend but pulled up badly so isn’t being considered this week.

So the Dogs will keep looking for ruck alternates as well as key backs.

West Coast key defender Harry Edwards is one player clubs continue to ask about but is contracted and after playing 10 games this year as a 20-year-old the Eagles won’t let him go.
