Their scouts seem to be able to reach wide
Sometimes it’s just retired footballers who see something in a player and ring the club they played for .
Story goes Hawk happened to notice Chris Grant and rang the club and informed them to look at him.
Might be an ex player over in SA doing the same thing.

Spot on , interesting Eade saw something in him and inspired Sharman to go to the next level and not give up. Really good story here.

If you had have watched the 1992 Diamond Dogs five thousand times like I did you'd remember Hawk said he called the club but they told him they were all over it.

Could you imagine if we opened up 12 spots!

Not sure the draft runs deep enough for that, nor do I think the players likely to leave for more opportunity will draw any playable compensation.

Incredible to say but we probably actually still need Duryea given there's zero pressure for his spot in the role he plays.

Yep. But the narrative around 2-4 draft picks makes me think it’s not close to happening unfortunately.

How many good AFEL games did that list not yet retired/delisted put together combined?

We aren’t losing much if anything by taking some extra kids over re-signing much of this list.

It's an interesting table when lined up to what Sam Power has indicated with be our draft position of around 2 to 4 picks.
Unless we are somehow going to trade a lot of players in then we will sign a few of these to one year deals.

I'd say Duryea stays on and either Crozier or O'Brien will be given another year but they shouldn't.
If we are confident that Bedendo can get fit enough there must be a chance we retain him as well and we might keep Buku uless another club offers him a 2 year deal. We should go hard at keeping Sweet.

I think it needs to be a mixed approach.

With Sweet it will be a back up ruck in, so that's relatively neutral given he didn't play. Not sure about Khamis, but again, it's neutral because he didn't play.

I would let Crozier go and back Cleary and Gallagher. Duryea plays a really difficult position, and I'd not let him go unless we were certain we could attract someone who could play his role at his level or better which isn't a given.

O'Brien leaves me on the fence. I don't trust his body, though much like Roark if he can get that settled then he is good cover. McNeil can improve, he's only 22 and again, is good cover if we think we can't find someone better via trade or draft.

Not sure I see Raak making it, though I think Bedendo needs another crack because he has some attributes as a medium forward we need.

I think the rest speak for themselves or are already spoken for. The only maybe is Toby but I can't see him getting his pace back to where it needs to be and there's a few in front of him as next in line for the inside mid spot.

So what does that leave us with, eight open list spots for drafting and trade? I think that's about right. Twelve to me is too much.

Next year's improvement will come from more consistent effort from our mid-tier and incremental improvement elsewhere via trade and/ or some players taking a long overdue step forward.
                            TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

That is what will happen, but what should happen is also difficult given picks we have.
