Unfortuneatly my four favourite songs by them (Hot Fries, Slapped Actress, One for the Cutters and Both Crosses) didn't get a run but I know enough of the rest to get by. Would probably go see them again, especially as I now have an even better knowledge of their songs.
I don't think Hot Fries gets much of a run these days which is a shame as it's one of my faves. One for the Cutters is one they probably can't cover with the guitar rather than keys. Slapped Actress is often a show closer (I think it was in Brisbane or Sydney) so it was probably just bad luck that they didn't play it.

I looked through the recent set lists to find out what I should be expecting and didn't get my hopes up (I knew One for the Cutters and Both Crosses were no chance). Maybe next time.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

I sat next to Twodogs at Ed Kuepper on Friday and went to Mossvale Festival near Leongatha on Saturday.
The highlight of that festival for me was a solo Gareth Liddiard from the Drones. I can understand his unique style polarising opinion but for me he is Australia's best story teller/song writer at the moment.

His voice is so unique and not sure what term to use its not haunting, but it sticks with you and is perfect for the tails he tells.

What do you think of his solo album compared to his drones work? For me Im very much into singer song writer and acoustic guitar who tell a story so currently Im into his solo album.

I see quite a bit of live music, but for whatever reason I have only seen him once (most likely he spends majority of time in Europe). It was at the East Brunswick club and he was supporting the Devastations (another brilliant band, under rated here but adored in Europe) however he was came on stage 1 - 1 and half after his scheduled time and was so drunk he was beyond coherent, so I was left wanting more.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Did any one get to see Justin Townes Earl? Man he has lived a hard hard life. Granted mostly self inflicted but what hope did he have considering where he came from?

He always sounds drunk, not sure if he is or isn't half the time. Much like Dylan or Waits his singing style is part of the act. The accent is very Australian and it is incoherent at times but to me it makes it better. As for the solo album, I think it just a continuation but acoustic version of the drones. The stories and the lyrics of his stuff is always fascinating.

How good were those seats? Well maybe not the actual seats but moreso their proximity to the stage?

I still cant get my head around a happy, cheerful, talkative Ed Kuepper though, it just didnt feel right. Even so I loved the Spiderman theme.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Going to see Eddie Vedder at the Palais tonight. Will be awesome to see him in a smaller venue this time as opposed to Pearl Jam's Etihad concert last time around.
