Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
I don't understand an apparent interest in James Harmes. We do need some additional run but his best football was 3 or 4 years ago.
I hope we don't get in a position where we are paying Hunter to play against us and because of the gap that created that we get Harmes to play for us.
It really wasn't about his football, although the year leading up to him being traded was certainly sub-par for someone of his calibre.
I know you weren't alluding to that. But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment

Oh god no. ?Emerged as a suitor?. What kind of poetic nonsense is that? It has been reported that a stray dog has ?emerged as a suitor? for a regurgitated souvlaki.
Wow there’s something going whacky with the punctuation?Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Nope. Not me. Not an AFL player.
Has a unique skillset and one that could potentially create match-up problems...but he is a tall forward who is not a key forward...he can't help in the ruck, he is not strong enough in the contest to cause trouble to the best defenders...
Sorry. Not an AFL player. And he's had long enough to prove it. I just can't see the point of either the club offering him a contract or of him signing it.But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
I don't mind Harmes as look as his speed is still there. Open to the possibility of him playing as a pressure type small forward and/or a run with, but would prefer we go with Baz in that role if he is ready to roll.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
I haven't paid close attention in recent times, but if his speed and movement is still there, he's not a bad option. Competitive, can run, can play a few different roles and adds to our depth. He would play more games with us than he doesn't.
I'm all for the 'wtf is the club doing' vibes, but improving our depth with Coffield and Harmes cheaply isn't a bad thing IF we think we can still contend.W00F!Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
It occurred to me that the '24 draft is said to loaded with quality mids. until quite deep. So a second back for our first might get someone of equal quality next year. That is not the case this year.
I can also see the value in using multiple picks to get up to the very elite part of the draft. Sometimes you have to pay above market to get exactly what you want when you want it.
We are likely to have first rounders in the 12-18 range for many years, so occasionally bundling two years together to move up makes sense.
I do like the idea of Watson.Comment

This forum keeps talking about wanting role players with grunt and then we are linked with one and the board shuts down. But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
I'd take a role player who isn't universally seen as being cooked, or at least had some scope for improvement. The only way for Harmes is down.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
I'm not sold on the idea either but I get why we're interested.
I'm not sure he's cooked and I highly doubt we'd be looking at him if we didn't think there was a specific role we wanted him to play (and we thought he could do it).But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.Comment
