BTW Soupman, how are you doing in the lockdown? Hope everything is ok at your end and you are able to still work from home etc.

We are doing fine. My partner works from home anyway so no change for her, and I am an essential worker although our industry (aviation) is understandably dead at the moment so i go to work and get my social fill but its pretty boring. We live in a pretty good spot so have just been outdoors as much as possible (no masks required). I'm mainly just missing playing sports, and am somewhat concerned that we are probably months away from being allowed into Victoria and I fully intend on being there from Prelim final weekend onward should we make it.

Also I am sick of friends and family planning trips to see us and booking everything only to be screwed by covid. I reckon we'd be comfortably in the double digits for trips cancelled to Victoria/by Victorians to us in the last year.

I speak to a lot of companies that are based in NSW and 50% of those people are struggling with the lock down while acknowledging they also have a more freer version of it in NSW than VIC has had with more shops being open etc

What I have noticed is that when I log on at work each morning I'm getting a lot more emails sent to me 9 to 11pm most nights
I guess people are throwing themselves more into work during these challenging periods of being at home.

It's sad to hear so many people are struggling with their lifestyle being impacted and the sooner a high portion of us have had the two vaccinations the better.

I normally don't need encouragement, but I work stupid hours during lockdowns and am all over the shop sleep-wise. I think it's something people jump into but it's fatiguing and terrible for you. Each time I tell myself I'll rein it in, exercise more in the mornings etc. but struggle to make that materialise.

That's not a complaint mind you, I'm aware that I'm one of the lucky ones able to keep plugging away.

Yes the results are the day prior. There are no additional on top of the 10? already announced. So we will find out more during the day and early tomorrow as the tests come in.

Anecdotally the queues are long today. I was tested Monday and it was empty, took 5 mins with the results within 24 hours. Same place today, a friend still waiting after 90 mins.

The third local case on Thursday was a woman who works at Brisbane International airport. Dr Young said the woman, in her 40s, who was fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.“I am very concerned about the Brisbane International airport worker. They have been working at the airport for three days while infectious,” Dr Young said.“Nothing to do with them. They did absolutely the
right thing and they were vaccinated. But, we now have to see where they have been working, who they have come into contact with.”

PCR testing is just not fast enough. It takes 24 hours and in that time, people can cross borders, come into contact with crowds etc.
In addition to PCR testing, footy will be safer if the government adopts rapid testing in addition to PCR.
In the UK school kids get rapid covid tests twice a week. When you go to Aldi in Germany you get a free test at the check out.

Even with everyone vaccinated, more testing is needed.

Also if we could make our own vaccines that may really help. Unfortunately cant happen for some years.
