Gomez are playing 170 Rusell on Sunday night. I was going to fly over and do the game and then gig, but they ended up adding an Adelaide show and the whole flying over on Easter Sunday would have cost me a lot of browny points.

I did come over for The National at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl a few weeks back. The National have been my favourite live act over the last few years. They are awesome.

I’m agnostic re the National but my brother in law who is a fan went and he said they were pretty disappointing this time around. Interested to hear your perspective.

They were better in 2014 - by no means a shocker this time but I reckon the material on 'Sleep Well Beast' is very brooding (even by their brooding standards) and doesn't translate as well in a live setting.

Was also the very last show of a long worldwide tour and Matt Berninger was off his face and stumbled over the lyrics a few times. He was absolutely magnetic in their 2014 show at the Myer Music Bowl and had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. Still loved the gig this time around - just not quite as much as 4 years earlier.

Yeah my bro in law said they seemed tired and not quite on. He was pretty disappointed but I was interested to hear other people’s thoughts. From memory he wasn’t a huge fan of the new record either though.

Not their best but they've been on a white hot streak since 'Alligator' in 2005. It's a slow grower.
