    Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023

Smith is not going to get midfield time at Geelong. They'll chuck him on a wing to replace Isaac Smith.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Smith can go and kick the ball over the heads of new teammates. How can he have spent this long in the system and still have an inability to execute kicking. Especially under no pressure?

Smith & Doedee sounds like a very Geelong trade season. While getting a good return of Ratogalea.

Bring in Henry & Tomlinson. FMD. I could get cryogenically frozen and by the time they figure out how to reanimate me we will still be ****ed.

There are wings down at the cattery?

          Please don't trade Smith.

If we lose our two best young mids in consecutive years it will really set us back.

I'd caution about expecting too much in a trade return with the Cats. Mackie is far more ruthless than the more fair minded Wells.
They also spent a bit of draft currency last year getting Bowes, Henry and Bruhn and with no 2nd or 3rd round pick this year to deal with at best we would be looking at whatever they get in return for Ratugolea or perhaps a combination that includes a future pick.

100%. Smith is going through a tough patch now no doubts but I'm chips in with him if he genuinely wants to be a Bulldog.
I want to add a player or two with similar attributes to our list and set-up a midfield for the next 5 years plus.

As far as players looking to trade in. Which quality players with offers from multiple clubs think we are the place to be in a months time?

We've never quite been a target for the quality players in their prime coming to us but right now given where we are placed from a list perspective players like Kai Lohmann might be very interested and I'd be happy with that type of addition.
Of course Tom Boyd headed our way but he was super keen to return home. Aker and Hall were well past their best.

I mean right now. After choking for 3 months, losing to 16th & 18th to miss finals. A coach who may not see out his tenure of two years. Re-signing clearly cooked players. A club that has a stink to it.

I think the job to attract talent just got a bit harder unless we are going back to overpaying fringe talent like Liam Henry to make zero improvement.

If English left then maybe a ruckman sees an opportunity and that’s an Avenue. My boy Lohmann is from Ballarat and needs to be playing senior footy. So that’s an Avenue. But the dogs aren’t on the top or middle of my list to trade to if I have options.

Why would English leave to another Victorian club? Surely it's unlikely any club would blow our offer out of the water?

                          According to Tom Morris

                          Bailey Smith (Western Bulldogs)

                          “He’s desperate to play midfield.

“If he stays at half-forward, he won’t be re-signing beyond 2024 and is every chance to consider his options this trade period. Rivals clubs are acutely aware of the fact he wants to play midfield.

“On Sunday he played 70 per cent midfield according to Champion Data, but over the course of this year it’s been 44 per cent.

“That’s the main dimension about whether Smith will stay or leave in the next year or two. That’s the big watch on Smith.

“How much midfield time he gets is a big determination for his future.”

I can't see any team wanting to do that with the one exception potentially being West Coast.

Not Victorian but it's typical Sydney Swans move.

Fair call but in the scenario outlined it focused more on him potentially moving to another club in Vic.
