Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Certainly no world-beater but right now I want Keath to be a 'break glass only' option next year and I'm not convinced Liam Jones plays every game next year. Might back himself in to leapfrog Gardner to be a best 22 player anyway. Seems a 'tough' type as well - certainly not an agile type but decent enough straight line speed. I think he projects as a 'quicker' Sam Collins in time.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Caleb Graham - hasn't played this year. 195cm but played as a fill in ruck last year during their injury crisis. Seems to have a decent enough leap on him.

Two mid to late firsts, plus Treloar & Salary - for Pick 4 & Graham unless they saw fit make it Hollands or Flanders. But I doubt it.
Or three way trade:
Eagles Give: Pick 2, 11 (Barass) & 19 - Get Pick 4 & English
Suns Give : Pick 4, Graham/Hollands - Gets Picks 17/18 & 19, Treloar with some salary paid
Dogs give: Treloar with salary paid & English, Pick 17/18 - Gets Picks 2 & 11 plus Graham/Hollands
Dogs Draft: 2, 8, 11 & Croft, plus Graham/Hollands
WCE go back two spots and trade Barass & 19 for English
Suns get a draft point break even or small surplus and swap a fringe player for Treloar with probably little salary difference
Dogs give up a fair bit, but, hit the draft hard with four kids in the top 15 (inc. Croft). Get another player back. Target Grundy with Pick 35 to serve Bont, Libba & Macrae/Smith? and Lohmann (Pick 20 two years ago) with a F2.
(GCS can throw in unused points to be nice too)Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Does it actually make a lot of sense? I don't think Hardwick will want an ageing midfielder even one that is performing like Treloar is when he already has Miller, Rowell, Anderson, Flanders, Ellis, Fiorini, Swallow and the emerging Humphrey.
Unless they expect a fire sale I don't think it's that realistic especially after jettisoning Bowes contract last year.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
The scenario that would be ideal next year, is we can get 2-3 young players in the midfield and invest games into them so they can get to 20-30 games quickly. Add West and Garcia ( both get to 50 games) and we have mature bodies to take on some of the workload , with Bonts , Treloar(??) , MacCRae (2027) and Smith being the mature bodies .Comment

Then throw him and has salary back to us.

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
(Natural Picks) 2, 8, 10, 11, Croft 13-15, Grundy (35), Lohmann (F2), Graham/Hollands from GCS, Scott to be upgraded and some late picks.
Need to come up with say 700 draft points from say Williams compo, upgraded fourth round picks for Sweet & Khamis and perhaps a F3 for points this year if needed.
It’s the nuclear option if you want to blow it up and start again. New coach and five first rounders, first rounder from two years ago and a couple of players in need…
But still have Bont, Libba, Naughton, JUH, Cody, L Jones, Darcy, Buss, Dale, Ed, Daniel etc.
But probably need to spend a fair bit of cap with the outs. Maybe a free agent in time)Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
Personally I would. When Geelong beat us they go to Pick 10. After two bids, that’s pick 12 & 13. Twomey has Croft at 11. So there’s a bit of a risk we need to live trade out both for a F1’s. But also if Croft gets to us still on the table, then that’s a huge draft haul:

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
It’s not realistic, but if we really wanted to blow up what’s there and start a strong rebuild in a strong draft, there’s a few paths if WCE wants Tim as much as was rumoured, ditto Geelong and the GCS one today on Adz.
I think we will just tinker if we had the choice. But I reckon Shocktober is a good chance. Then who knows.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
-Smith wants more midfield time, will only stay on if this happens
-English weighting up his options (not going back to WA but other Vic clubs)
-Buku to Essendon looking more solid
-Sweet might just stay on if English leaves, seems some interest in him has cooled a bit
-Treloar to GC (As i reported earlier) is a long shot
-Bailey Williams closing in on a longer term deal
-TOB +1 year almost done
-Duryea to stay on one more year
-Who we target in the off season is becoming even muddier, I can't get a clear answer from anyone behind the scenes, ALOT of names being thrown about, the only one that we seem to be 100% on is Liam Henrey."Its always good to win the Ashes test match'' - Libba, AFL Grand Final, 2016Comment

Thanks Vred.
Duryea is done much like Keath and I'd rather they both go, but to offer TOB another year is insanity.W00F!Comment

If Doedee didn't do an ACL I'd suspect he'd be on our list next season, we were heavily into him but now it sounds like his Geelong bound."Its always good to win the Ashes test match'' - Libba, AFL Grand Final, 2016Comment
