Howard was very good for his first couple of years at the Saints - led the league in spoils IIRC.
He's always been a spoil first, mark second defender and we already have Gardner so I doubt we'd be interested.

I'd legit rather back JOD in after a big pre-season. Keath is just back-up next year IMO

JOD backs himself to mark though . I see him as another Liam Jones . Will mark or punch in the right circumstances.
Kids going to extremely good . His game last week shows he is catching up on lost time extremely quickly . After the preseason will be Interesting to watch.

I just like the name Dougal.

Wasn?t that the name of the dog character in the magic roundabout?

Onya Doggy Dougal. I?m in, let?s get him to the ?Scray.
            Yep. Shout out to Florence.

Dougal would be a lateral or minor upgrade on Gardner. Not worth what he'd probably be asking for.

Hardly worth the effort. We have enough tall defenders anyway

Updated from Tom Morris - link

                  Liam Henry (Fremantle)
?A big couple of days for Liam Henry at Fremantle. He is out of contract and clubs believe he is on the way out.
?Freo believe they?ve cut too deep and their list is back to where it was in 2021.?

                  Ben McKay (North Melbourne)
?We think he will go, it?s just where?
?Essendon would love him but would ideally like to pay him an amount which sees band 2 compo.
?This means North wouldn?t receive this compensation pick before the Bombers. It?s a delicate balance. It?s a tough one for Essendon.?

                  Elijah Hollands (Gold Coast)
?He was pick 7 in 2020. He?s contracted for next year but rival clubs have been told he?s available for the right price.?
                  Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (Essendon)

?He is expected to request a trade to Port Adelaide at his exit meeting this week. That will play out in the next couple of days.?

                  Darcy Parish (Essendon)
?Parish is still waiting to sign with Essendon, though rival clubs are beginning to become more interested.
?I?ve spoken to some clubs and they believe he is more gettable now than he was a couple of weeks ago because of what played out with the publicity around Essendon and his management being on a different page last week. Whether that?s on a five or six-year deal, I?m not sure.

?Melbourne is keen but may struggle to fit him in.?

                  Bailey Smith (Western Bulldogs)
?A lot of noise around him this week. He won?t request a trade at his exit meeting.
?I?m not sure what?s going to happen over the next few weeks, but he won?t request a trade this week.

?The Dogs are resolute. They asked for two first-round picks from Essendon for Josh Dunkley and I?d expect they?d ask for something similar for Bailey Smith.

?At the moment they?re saying he?s up for trade anyway as he?s got another year to run on his contract.?

                  Matthew Nicks (Adelaide)
?Nicks has another year left on his contract and the Crows are going to look to extend him beyond 2024 this summer.?

Hollands is a tough one to value - was a potential number 1 pick before an ACL in his draft year, made to earn his shot at the Suns but hasn't pulled up any trees.

I don't mind the idea of him if Gold Coast aren't asking too much for him - big upside and he's a good age to contribute next year. Might be one they're looking at as sell-able for draft points.

                      I’d like a package deal: Pick 4 & Hollands

Three firsts maybe enough. If they wanted a player of ours maybe them depending on who it is.

Maybe I'm missing something but he seemed pretty run of the mill the little snippets I saw of him at VFL level.
Apart from being a high draft pick, am I just not seeing it?

If the Brisbane pick ends up around 18-19 and pushed out by bids, then the pick to us would be around the low to mid 20’s. I reckon that could be around fair value if Pick 4 was coming to us for other picks. GCS look like they’re playing this well to get the maximum price. If our two this year isn’t enough, and to me this trade is the priority with Croft, then how we go about getting it probably involved another first somewhere (Future, Smith etc) but a player coming back us. I think Flanders finished too well to be traded now, so it’s Hollands or perhaps Graham. Whilst important, the main game is getting our picks well clear of Croft to me. Plus we could do with a top 5 pick mid this year. If we rated Hollands, then that would work for me.

The media hasn't mentioned us in connection with Henry at all that I've seen. Hawthorn seem to be their favourites.
