Based on a 9-10 month recovery time for ACL's we can still have Bruce & McLean featuring in the 2022 finals

Wallis seems too good for VFL but hard to see him leaving the club, Lipinski & Young are just not that good but Wallis could be a great extractor somewhere else

JJ & English might get traded
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Tim English is one of those players, who if we trade could get better as his body matures and I would be lamenting the one that got away. His probably similar to frustration with Todd Marshall as to all that potential, but just cannot seem to click it together at the right moment. I would be keeping him as we don't have much else in a ruck at the moment. My observation is, that his not a first ruck, who will monster opposition rucks ( maybe in 5-6 years when his body matures) and his not a natural leading forward like Naughton. If he comes good in another team, he would be terrorizing us for years to come. Is that what happened to Grgic?

Did we miss an opportunity this year in the mid season draft to bring in a ruckman or KPD ? Its really hard to say, and only time will tell I guess. We are looking like winners with Gardner's pick from 2019 mid season draft.

Will any of these players improve our team next year ? Its brutal, but we need to move them on if they cannot help us get up to that Gear that Melbourne clicked on? Do they have any elite traits that can improve the team ?

      Young
      Hayes
      Buku
      Buttler
      Sweet
      West
      Wallis
      Crozier
      Lippa
      Wood
      Cordy

if not, we should look to trade them or delist to get some currency. We need to be brutal with the drafting, if we want to get that next premiership.

I think we have a real big issue and we are quite hamstrung with what we actually can do this trade period.

To get talent in via trade or via the draft will be extremely tough.

Our picks in this draft will be eaten up by a bid for Sam Darcy.

I am not keen on trading future picks to get talent in, unless it is a genuine need and immediately become best 22.

We cannot go into a 3rd consecutive draft (2022) without having a pick in 2nd / 3rd / 4th round of the draft. If we do we will be in a world of pain in 5 years time list wise.

Well, I think we’re at the point with the talent we have that we need to push our chips in, and we need a No. 1 ruck. If in 5 years we haven’t won a flag with this list, that’d be a bigger disaster than beginning a rebuild cause we used future picks to fill our list gaps in 2021.

I can’t recall if it was known that Keath and Bruce wanted/were open to moves before we got them? Who knows who Sam Power has on his radar… it isn’t necessarily just those out of contract either.

Cordy, Buks, Crozier & Wood are contracted for next year and Butler may have signed a 1 year deal around the time Garcia did too.
I expect Lippi, Young and Wallis to leave. I hope to keep West as he at least has competitiveness and I have doubts about Libba managing to play two full years.
Sweet is a wait and see for mine - the 4th year rookie rule might save him, but we have to test the trade market to find ruck(s) first.

Given we made the grand final and where our list is at (plus bringing in JUH last year and Darcy this year) we have to be open to trading 2022 picks for ready made players for next year. 2021 picks as change to help us match a Darcy bid.

There was a rumour Essendon were interested in West.

Priority positions of need are genuine first ruck, genuine key defender and small, quick pressure forward.

I am concerned around Alex Keath body and holding up for a full season from 2022 onwards. I think based on his age and history we will see a few more soft tissue injuries.

                    Suspect this might be a 2+2 = 5 situation.

Essendon have clearly been targeting an inside mid and don't have much cap space, so West seems a possible option but I don't think there's been any direct contact as far as I can tell. Given Parish's improvement this year and the way Stringer finished the season starting in midfield and pushing fwd, I would be surprised if they're after anyone else that might take game time away from their current mids.

Lippy has formally requested trade to Pies. What do you think we will be offered - a player, a pick, pick swap etc.? I know Pies have to have enough points for Daicos, not sure what picks they have this year? If they still have their first pick this year presume they’ll be wanting to swap for lower multiple picks from another club for it, to increase their points.

I would expect them to offer a 3rd rd pick next year. No idea what we want but that's what I expect their initial offer to be.

Player for player trades are somewhat rare now and given the Pies will also be looking for more points like we will be I think it means it will be something low key and it's likely to be a future pick.
This has the potential for a player for player swap but it's hard to say as he could easily go to them via the PSD

Some talk they'll be firm this year given north gave the PSD threat hanging over CCJ, so the PSD threat is real.
We're going to get unders for him. I'd prefer we manipulate a swap for Max Lynch but it doesn't sound like that's happening.

Yep, I thought of your Lynch recommendation when Lippa nominated Collingwood.
We could easily lose him for nothing.

Can we do a deal with North Melbourne that means that if he is available at the preseason draft they take him? They have a better cap situation than Collingwood does and can counter any scenarios that may be tabled.

Seriously, *!*!*!*! Lipinski if he forces a weak trade on us. We've put a contract on the table for him and actually shown him a lot of good will in the amount of games he's been given and the five years of development we've put into him. It's not even the trade period and I'm already sick of players nominating clubs and outcomes and hamstringing clubs.
                                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
