For me only Jamaine Jones, but West Coast are trying to sign him so the media reporting goes.

    Slim pickings otherwise.

I still expect a few free agents with compo. Then it’s back to nothing or maybe 9 points. We should look to upgrade it with a fringe trade or throw it in as steak knives as it’s definitely worth a bit more to another club once all the matched bids suck up picks.

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion

BT I'm a big advocate for bringing in some players with a harder edge in the upcoming years.

We've touched on losing guys like Picken, Clay Smith etc who make their mates walk taller.

I'm a big fan of Ben Ainsworth from the Suns. Had a reasonable year, small forward that can burst into midfield and does have that bit of smart ar5e about him I don't mind in a player.

With a potential Wallis departure, any way we have enough currency to entertain a deal like this?

I reckon there's a lot of untapped potential with this kid, he's from country Vic, but expect we'd have to pay too high a price.

Think he's out of contract end of 22.

Other woofers general thoughts on Ben?

Gun former pick 4, Gippsland boy IIRC so 'more senior' woofers would appreciate the connection.

Wonder if they're after a quick half back flanker former Norm Smith medallist to replace Harbrow.

I doubt we have it. No big names look like being traded out to give us a good pick. They are salary dumping Darcy MacPherson and others to free up cap to resign their good players.

You’re dead right we need that type. My value pick all year has been Jamaine Jones as a UFA. I’m hoping he knocks back West Coast and come to us for free.

A 205cm swingman/ruck at Pick 3 (or ideally less) is the main game. I think that the Future First might come into play if deficit expectations are too high. That could give us a little something nice. But I think that needs to be straight out need, ruck, KPP.

              Good have you back.

If they were, and we covered much of his 2022 salary. I guess the question is in this scenario, who would they part with to bring in an experienced player in not much money next year.

                  Great to see you back.

Is Ben quick and can he lay a decent tackle?

Agree a bit more toughness would be good.

AFL stats say he is elite kicking and marking so their great attributes.

Presume he’d be fighting West, Garcia and McNeill and possibly Scott for a spot in forward line?

Cheers Josie and BT (I couldn't stay away too long think I've got a problem, well more than the obvious ones).

He's good above his head and exceptional on the ground. Wouldn't say he's super quick but he's a good decision maker and an excellent kick.

He has a little bit of swagger about him too and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

If there's a knock on him it might be his discipline and possibly doesnt have great endurance but I'll admit that's from limited viewing this season.

I reckon he brings an X factor and could really make our forward line super dangerous.

Sounds like Ainsworth & Weightman could make a mighty good small forward duo. They sound like an English toffee company too - sweet!

Would we have more of a show grabbing someone like Sexton who has been in and out all year, but always plays well against us. I’m hoping a genuine fwd might fall thru the cracks for us…someone like sexton, Gunston, Breust etc. a genuine fwds help with the loss of Bruce.

Me too. We've gone from Dicko to Lloyd, Wallis, Hannan - Weightman's our best leading forward at the moment
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

I do too. Moves well around the 50, and normally a good set shot. Seems a little out of favour with Dew, and for a player who has kicked his 3,4,5 per game, he should almost be an automatic selection in that GC team.

Is there an element of knob head about him? I sense there is, and maybe that's the reason?
