Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
West is contracted for another year so unless he demands a trade I think he will still be on the list in 2022.Comment

Aha I call BS... you had me right up to 'contracts thread'... as if we're to believe such a thing exists! We're not that gullible Axe Man!Comment

Is a "contracts thread" some sort of fabric/material that gives you powers to see the future? Akin to reading the tea leaves?Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
The key part of being of being a defender in our team is having good foot skills. Dale, Williams, Daniel, Duryea are all so important because of this. There's probably one spot for an elite speed defender (formally JJ, now Richards). West is no one of these, nor a marking intercept defender."I'll give him a hug before the first bounce and then I'll run into my pack and give them orders to rip him apart."Comment

VDM as well.
Garcia has taken the 'tough nugget mid/forward' role off him too. West's path to senior AFL is now very limited, especially if VDM can stay on the paddock and McNeill can keep pushing a case in the ressies.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Some updated rules relating to list management for the upcoming off-season.
Any players in their third season as a Category A or B rookie will be eligible to spend another season as a rookie in 2022
CLUBS are set to retain the same list sizes for 2022 while rookies in their third season will be allowed to spend a fourth 'replacement year' on the list after the AFL passed a rule change ahead of the off-season.
Under AFL rules players had not been allowed to spend more than three straight years on the rookie list. However, clubs had been lobbying the League to give extra time to rookies who had been disrupted in their development by the past two AFL seasons by COVID-19.
It saw the AFL confirm to clubs on Wednesday that any player in their third season as a Category A or B rookie will be eligible to spend another season as a rookie in 2022 as a 'replacement' year. The players will not be required to be delisted and go through the draft process to be re-selected...But the rule that allowed clubs to move primary-listed players to the rookie list between the first and second list lodgment periods to open up senior spots will not be permitted this off-season. They will, however, be able to shift players on the senior list to the rookie list in the time between the national and rookie drafts if the player is contracted for 2022.Meanwhile, clubs have been told they will have to again select a minimum of three players at the NAB AFL Draft after last year only needing to take one because of list reductions. The three live picks can include promoted rookies (before or after the national draft), national draft picks and pre-season draft selections.Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Khamis & Sweet stay on as rookies is a nice little win.
Only really Bedendo & Butler to move down. Not sure I’d like tapping these kids for a demotion though. But it might be needed if spots to picks on Darcy is going to be an issue with total spots open and/or Power wanting more flexibility. (Knowing we could do it after) Still don’t really see the need, unless we really don’t like the rookie draft. My guess, no moves on this front.Rocket Science: the epitaph for the Beveridge era - whenever it ends - reading 'Here lies a team that could beat anyone on its day, but seldom did when it mattered most'. 15/7/2023Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Really?
He just needs to be given a few games in a row and build some confidence with the selectors. He'll be fine.
Opportunities always come - players just aren't always in a position to take them. I'm sure young West is frustrated with his performances at AFL level...as he matures and becomes more consistent he'll be fine. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment
