Unfortunately the wife is dragging me to Bon Jovi, not looking forward to it.
I'm not a huge Bon Jovi fan, but I got dragged to see them in 1994 (ok, it was a long time ago, but I hope this is still relevant). If it's any consolation, the show was excellent.
Saw U2 tonight.
Not a massive fan but they put on a great show
Didn't do GloriaOr Pride
I was just offered a free ticket for tomorrow night. I'm not a massive fan either, and honestly I'm a bit 'concerted out 'with two recent Metallica concerts and Linkin Park in 2 weeks. Them not playing Gloria has just confirmed my decision not to go.

If it's a free ticket go.
I'm a fairly big U2 fan, despite going off them a bit in the last couple of years. However, last nights show was amazing.
Originally I thought that stage looked a bit lame, but live and in action it is amazing. Any TV programs or photo's of it simply don't do it justice. There are lights everywhere, it's truly massive, and the 360 degree screen is insane. It looks so good, and extends and retracts and was just awesome to watch.
As for the setlist it was better than I expected. In full it was:
Return of the Stingray, Beautiful Day, I Will Follow, Get on Your Boots, Magnificent, Mysterious Ways, Until the End of the World, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Mercy, Bad, In a Little While, Miss Sarajevo, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll go Crazy (If I don't go Crazy Tonight), Sunday Bloody Sunday, Scarlet, Walk On...One, Where the Streets Have No Name... Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me, With or Without You, Moment of Surrender
Really good set list. Crowd loved it with the only flattish spot being for "Get on Your Boots" and "Magnificent", whilst I was the only person in my area to get visibly excited about "Until the End of the World". Aboslutely rapt to get to hear "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me", "Streets" as usual was amazing and they even turned "Crazy" into a half decent song (it's atrocious on the album).
I was a bit indifferent in the lead up to the concert but last night was as spectacular and impressive a concert I've seen. And Jay-Z was surprisingly a good support act.

Gloria hasn't been played for yonks, they did it a bit early on in the Vetigo Tour, mainly the first leg of that tour, and before that he the Joshua Tree Tour, Unforgettable Fire Tour & War Tour all in the 80's.
Pride they might do in Friday, they tend to alternate certain songs, they played Pride in Auckland last week, on friday instead of I Will Follow they will play New Years Day, and scrap Hold Me Thrill Me for Ultra Violet [Light My Way], just to mix things up a bit.

I was really happy with the set list, Mercy is a killer track, has been floating around the net ever since Bono gave off a demo copy of their Atomic Bomb cd in 2004 to some lucky fan, it then circulated over the net, the new version is soon to be released on their new album Songs Of Accent, which also includes Stingray Guitar, North Star, Every Breaking Wave, Glastonbury. Boy Falls From The Sky etc which have been given runs throughout the last leg of the tour.
Lined up at 11am, got one person behind front row of the outside stage, looking forward to doing it all over again on Friday, then next year in Salt Lake & Denver.
If anyone wants a copy of the concert, there should be one up soon on here: http://www.u2start.com/
Just left Etihad. It was a good show. Maybe not great, but a good selection of tracks forth most part. There were a few flat spots, and the song they chose to end on was crap. Though I don't know its name. The claw was amazing.
Stuck in a moment was the absolute highlight with just Paul and Dave doing it acoustic. Paul is a great showman, but Dave is the glue that pulls them together. I never appreciated fully just how important his vocal input was to the band. He's got a great voice for anthemic backing vocals and his falsetto is excellent.
There were some sound issues. On a few tracks the bass was way too loud. Most noticeable on "One" and "With or Without You".
Glad I went, would gladly go again, though I've sat at a concert for the last time. Not being amongst the crowd takes a bit of the soul away.

I was front row for Wednesday night, and in the stands last night, the difference is like chalk & cheese, alot of people were just sitting in the stands [they musn't have a pulse], everyone on the ground were jumping around going absolutely nuts.
Show 2, and U2 bring in the greatest hits, New Years Day, Pride [In The Name Of Love], Stuck In A Moment etc to cater for the window shoppers and drop the likes of Mercy [unknown to the general public but massibe highlight for the huge fan].
Ultra Violet [Light My Way] also got a run in place of Batman.

IM stil deciding on which night was better....Wednesday night had the better atmosphere being right there near the stage...but last night i got to see the whole stage sitting on level 2..... loved it.....wasnt a huge U2 fan, liked there music and all that, but after these two concerts i think ill be going to another concert if they tour here again...

Moment Of Surrender, brilliant song imo.
It might be a brilliant song, but it's a crap way to end a show. They should have finished with "where the streets have no name". Leave the crowd wanting more, not wondering "is that it?".

Nah, finishing with Streets would be frustrating. I like it when the finish with a song that has a big singalong bit ie. Pride, 40. Moment of Surrender had this on wednesday, but according to reports not on Friday.
I'm actually a big fan for how the songs they have chosen to close with these last three tours. On the Elevation tour it was "Walk On/Hallejulah" (not the Leonard Cohen version), Vertigo tour had a low key version of "Kite" which was great and this had a modified version of "Moment of Surrender". They all give a more low key exit than going out with a bang.
Being in a U2 mood I went through all the dvd's I have in my possession and aside from "Under a Blood Red Sky" (Which is ineligible due to being a completely different set of songs and practically a different band) I found the setlists to have at least 3-4 songs I wasn't that big a fan of, while the two Melbourne concerts featured just one song I'm not a fan of (Stuck in a moment). We were very lucky with our set lists and I still can't believe I got to hear all of "Until the End of the World", "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" and "Bad", although "The Fly" and "The Unforgettable Fire" would have been insane, as would have "Gloria" or "Exit". Actually i could name a heap more songs I would have loved.
