Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
from fox footy
Melbourne has reportedly kicked off conversations with other clubs surrounding a Brodie Grundy trade.
Grundy?s future has been a hot topic after falling out of favour in Simon Goodwin?s side last month despite only crossing to Melbourne this year following his trade from Collingwood.
It comes with the 29-year old?s ruck partnership with Max Gawn failing to maximise both players? strengths ? and the Demons going 5-0 when Gawn is the No. 1 ruck compared to 10-7 alongside Grundy.
Sydney, Port Adelaide and Geelong are believed to be the teams inquiring about Grundy.
?And Brodie Grundy has made it clear to all three of those clubs he has no intentions of playing as a forward ever again.
?Conversations are well and truly down the track. He?s out of Melbourne.?

West Coast has tabled a four-year offer to out-of-contract Lions youngster Deven Robertson in its bid to pry the West Australian out of Brisbane, reports SEN?s Tom Morris.
The nephew of premiership Eagle Darren Glass, the 22-year old midfielder has previously drawn interest from West Coast, while earlier this year the Herald Sun revealed Victorian clubs were circling him.FFC: Established 1883

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
If the reports are correct in that he's currently on $700k he probably feels justified in wanting an increase of 30% given his output has improved... but paying him over $1mil is going to seriously limit our spend moving forward given, we have other marquee type players to satisfy.

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
I would rather that money be spent on speedier midfield options / defenders than English.
Just my two cents."Its always good to win the Ashes test match'' - Libba, AFL Grand Final, 2016Comment

Why can't we have English plus two speedy mids?FFC: Established 1883

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
-Carlton - can't afford that
-Collingwood - can't afford that
-Essendon - I don't see it with Draper there. Would be Freo 2.0 with Jackson and Darcy
-Hawthorn - Might have the money, but doesn't seem to fit with how they build a list in terms of prioritising rucks or big contracts
-Melbourne - Can't afford that, have Gawn
-Geelong - Can't afford that
-North - Have the money, but is he going to go there and play in crap sides for the rest of his career?
-Richmond - Doesn't seem like the kind of move they'd make when all the talk is they're refreshing their list
-St Kilda - Probably the most likely one, but he's going to have to split ruck time with Rowan Marshall for the rest of his career, which is apparently not what he wants
I still think the most logical outcomes are he stays with us or takes big money at the Eagles.Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
It says to me that we cannot afford a no.1 ruck eating up $1m per year of the salary cap when this best ever season hasn't moved the needle on-field at all (not English's fault, could say the same about Bont and Libba to be fair), and it only reinforces that there are clear holes elsewhere on the ground/list that are holding us back.
None of this is English's problem - he should ask for every cent the market is willing to pay."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Re: Early Trade Rumours 2023
He's had a career best year and we have regressed as a club. We could not have gotten more out of Bont and Libba either, and we have had optimum output from Liam Jones (when not injured) as well.
