Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
I did see that with interest last night. I raised him a few weeks back. I still think we need a ruck solution before a key back solution.
Gee I wish we had some draft pick currency to get them done.More of an In Bruges guy?Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
The year after we unsuccessfully tried to land him players who were the same height as Hurley were being considered too small for us so I think height or the perceived lack of it is often more of a convenient excuse. It's certainly not a recent thing and not something that changed in a year or two as is suggested.
From memory the selection of Naughton was initially canned because he apparently wasn't tall enough when he arrived (194cm now 195cm)
May and Lever are like 192 and 194cm
If you are good enough you are probably tall enough.
If Clurey was a better player then his 193cm height shouldn't be that much of a problem.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Dane Rampe is 189cm, Tom McCarton is 193cm. They are the Swans two key pillars.
If we can bring players in that represent an upgrade on what we have we simply have to consider it. Trent McKenzie is keeping him out of the side and he's 191cm.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2021 Rolling List Management Discussion
Our needs are more than we thought.
One ruck, maybe two if English is a forward.
A tall forward, to take heat away from Naughton. Not sure English alone is enough and all eggs in the Marra basket seems wrong.
Genuine KPD. Gardner has injury issues which need to be mitigated against. Cordy isn’t very good. Wood is a liability as the extra taller sort. Young will be out the door and Schache has less than a handful of game back.
Genuine small forward. Cody is a natural forward. Many including JJ are not. Playing them forward doesn’t make them natural forwards.
A small target strategy of Darcy and whomever at draft and tinkering trades will shut this window. We need to address how to improve the list rather than keep a bunch of honest but not very good footballers together with the main core.
Wallis, Lippa, Young and JJ bring Draft Points credits. But who else is tradable of real value that hasn’t already signed? Bailey Smith’s last three games will have more than exposed his deficiencies that it’s not worth it. The Free Agency List left isn’t crash hot.
I’m happy to hand over the second for Treloar. But the third for a bloke who looks like a good VFL player is reducing our capital again.
