Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

Is anybody here going to Soundwave Revolution?
    I really hate that festival.

My favorite artist is there, but i can't justify paying 150 when i don't like any other bands on the bill to see Devin Townsend play for 60 miniutes or so. And so Dev goes back home and i've missed him again.

The man is amazing and has an unbelievable range of music from some awesome metal albums with Strapping + Decon/Ziltoid to pop, rock, prog, range of ambient and Ocean Machine; one of the greatest albums around.

Do yourself a favor and see him if you can.

2 weeks till the Mars Volta, wooooo

I am going. A few names have pulled me through the gate, some just to tick the 'seen them' box and others because I genuinely want to. Actually pretty impressed with the line up.

Yes I'm going too. To see Van Halen. Saw them with Gary Cherone last time they toured but really want to see them with David Lee Roth. I'm not a fan of festivals either, but it'll probably be the only opportunity to see them so I'm going..... Alice Cooper should be interesting too.

Yay Alexxx!! A friend of mine was trying on Monday for tickets, couldn't get anything at all. I managed to get her 3 x GA for the Saturday night. Trying to find someone to swap 3 x GA Friday night tickets for her Saturday night ones so we can all go together.

Monster Magnet are touring on their old Dopes to Infinity album, clearly their best album. Not sure about venues probably the Palais, check local guides if you're into them. I went to the original Dopes to Infinity gig at the Palais over 10 years ago now.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

I hear there are no bad seats at AAMI Park (that's what they tell us during the NRL season!!) Should be a fantastic concert!!

Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

Went to the Corner Hotel last night for what turned out to be an outstanding lineup.

First up were Buchanan, one of those Triple J unearthed type bands who are actually good. Great voice, some really good songs and were just really impressive. Was really excited to see them going in and they didn't dissapoint. Check them out ( downloads are free and quality) http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Arti...artistid=39479

Second were a band called Husky, who were kind of fiddly acoustic guitar riffs with a great keys player and drum and bass. Almost nodded off halfway through their set but they came home really strongly and the singers voice is amazing. Paino solo was also really cool. http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Arti...artistid=15219

And the main act were Jinja Safari, who are crap in their recordings but brilliant live. Great drumming, really high energy antics on stage and really just a whole lot of fun, I can't fault their live performances. They just look like 5 guys having an awesome time, and it's hard not to like them. recomend seeing them if you're ever stuck for something to do. Really impressive.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Missed posting bout Tumbleweed last Thursday night - got a ticket given to me at the last minute. Thornbury Theatre is one of my favourite venue in Melbourne and the boys were in fine form, the crowd was mostly older rockers and everyone had seen each other around, the weed played well and then hung around afterwards chatting to people.

For those early 90s Lo Fi fans Sebadoh is touring in September. I saw them at the pow in the 90s and Lou Barlow played with dinosaur jr here last year

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
